Live review – 5th annual band showcase, Merlin Theatre, March 2003.

“…Onto Echo Red – their particularly powerful brand of lie down and die metal attacks the jugular and then spins you around until you beg for mercy. Total annihilation of your aural sensibilities. But fun too. And then the excitement got too much for the singer of the drummer who felt the call of their mates in the moshpit and abandoned the stage altogether. It was that sort of night.”

Taffpop Records' review of track 'Brother Famine'...

"There is an anger about Echo Red just as there was / is with The Clash, Rage Against the Machine or the Dead Kennedys. "The rich get richer and the poor get fucked" is a lyric from the single tracked demo (Brother Famine) - I think I even heard the word "imperialist" - not a subject covered frequently by mainstream acts, or any other acts really. They're a bit different from many other similar bands because of this political edge. It's so easy to see a metal / punk / thrash band scream and howl their anger without any clue as to the source of their anger. At least with Echo Red there's a clue. Oh yeah - the music. A curious mix of Muse, Fight and Rage Against the Machine. There's a growly deep metal vocals / twee public schoolboy crossover kinda thing going on that's puncuated by big riffs. The drums are booting - nicely driving...ECHO RED have anger and ability."

Live review – 6th annual band showcase, Merlin Theatre, February 2004.

“…The evening started with the persuasive charm of that punk metal quartet, the love 'em or leave 'em Echo Red, who launched into an aural assault (with all amps turned up to infinity, of course) as reassuringly ragged and raw as ever. Luke, who was wearing a cross around his neck to protect himself from anything demonic that might occur later, seemed to have perfected the emo mic hug. And when he was sitting on the edge of the stage singing one for the laydeez, I experienced quite a heart pounding moment, and I don't think I was alone, such is the Echo Red effect.”

Another Live review of the 6th Annual Band Showcase

“‘Kapow!!’ an instantly crotch grabbing growl kicks the night into action, with melodic metal and speedy riffs, Echo Red set the standard for the night. With triumphant roars and nu metal screams, stiking fear into the hearts of many was not a task taken lightly. Not neglecting their softer side, though, the four piece dedicated one for the ‘ladies’, securing them the title of the high school sweethearts for the night.”

- Taken from Lime Magazine (writer - Denz).

"...Riffs came hard and fast, and quite a few of them were catchy as hell…songs would speed up to become really cool, fast and catchy…"

- A little quote from 'Mullet Punk'; the low key e-zine.

Western Telegraph's review of the Lime Rockshow set.

“Having seen Echo Red a few times, they feel as comfortable as an old pair of Converse. Echo Red were hell bent on delivering a brutally raw set. Frontman Luke snarled with an impossible passion, as his narky attitude-laden band thrashed through another example of the sort of music that makes no sense, unless it's played very loud. The surprise of their set (or was it really?) was the sight of Dave 'Yogi' Burton duetting with Luke (well, yelling their heads off) as they mingled with the moshers.”
