I’ll be honest with you, I wrote this to fill up space. Read it if you really want to. If I get really bored by the time I’ve finished, I may lie elaborately.

You could say Echo Red was half born out of the ashes of ‘The Source’ and ‘Get Frank’. After the sad demise of The Source on New Year’s Eve, 2002, guitarist Adam was bandless and truly heartbroken. Until through a friend he met bassist Alex and, being aware of the complete lack of bassists in Pembrokeshire, developed the idea to form a band.

Alex and Adam jammed a couple of times acoustically and came up with a few small dilly’s that now go by the name of ‘Omega’. But there was something missing… For starters, a drummer.

One drunken night, Adam was speaking with best mate Luke and initially just as half a laugh Luke offered to be a frontman. Adam, Luke and guitarist-turned-contemporary drummer Mini-Tom spent some time jamming and also came up with little dilly’s we now know as ‘Into Myself’. However, Mini-Tom didn’t seem quite suited to the part. The idea of Echo Red, then nameless, slept for a little while.

Then, upon the sad demise of the brilliant local punk band ‘Get Frank’, Scott was whining and whining away at Adam about what we can only call ‘drum deprivation disorder’. Knowing that Scott was definitely NOT lacking in talent, he was in. Alex, Scott and Adam jammed and the musical puzzle was complete, as tunes like Omega were developed and a gritty, painful, speedy punk-metal sound was developed.

Luke waltzed in again with his book of lyrics and the drunken half-laugh became a brilliant idea. Mr. Mayhew became the perfect choice for a frontman – he had powerful stage presence and a voice that always gave 110%. Since this time in February, 2003, Luke and Adam have combined lyrical talents while Scott and Alex’s musical ability and creativity have exploded to great proportions. The wild debut gig at the Merlin Theatre 5th annual band showcase was a musical, crowd pleasing (cheers you skanking lot!!!) and critical success.
